About the projects.
Working together to provide generational investments for Helena kids.
The Helena School District requested a $63 million dollar bond to make generational investments in the elementary school district. On May 2, 2017, the community voted with overwhelming support to approve this request.
As of November 2017, the new school projects have moved into the Preconstruction Phase. During this phase, the general contractors, with input from the architects and representatives from Helena Public Schools, will develop construction schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and specifications for construction materials. The general contractor assembles bid packages (for subcontractors to bid on) and awards subcontracts. In addition, the general contractor’s safety officer develops site specific safety plans, which outline safety and security procedures for the construction site and surrounding area.
The Construction phase includes the site work, excavation and building construction. This phase is expected to begin in mid-March 2018 for the three new schools. The construction phase is scheduled to be completed in August 2019 in time for the opening of the 2019-2020 school year.
